BBQ ribs dinner tonight, Louisa insisted yesterday that I should make this for dinner tonight, so of course I must oblige, right? I made the bbq sauce myself with the dripping, tomato sauce, worchestershire sauce and lots of spices... very yummy!

Introducing New Orleans Chicken Gumbo, actually bought the spices from Disneyland... I just added the roast chicken chunks, celery and onion to complete it... YUMMY

爸b我愛你(我老公啦)突然打电话来,话头痛唔舒服,连今晚公司的常年大会都要缺席,工作狂的他一定很辛苦了,唔系无可能推了那么重要的差事!

本来要带囡囡出街食饭,但现在当然唔可以,快快煮碗鱼片麵线俾老公食,容易消化,然後休息,明日一定会好番,无事了!

Darling Daddy Dearest doesn't feel well today! He called to say he has a headache and can't even make it to his company's business meeting... it must be serious because he is normally very responsible and even with MC also goes back to work. Poor thing!

We planned to go out for dinner with Britney, but of course it has to be cancelled. Rush home from work and cooked this sliced fish noodle for darling... Pray that he will get well tonight and enjoy our weekend together!

丰盛的主日 Blessed Sunday

昨日第二次受Mark & Sherry的邀請去基博浸信会参加他们的Cantonese颂拜,上次是个多月前呀,也是由来自加拿大的黄敏然牧师讲道,我得益良多... 謝謝Mark & Sherry!

整了这个Oreo Cheesecake 加朱古力粒送给Sherry,希望她喜欢这个组合...

Yesterday went to Kay Poh Road Baptist Church for the Cantonese Worship Service. I really enjoyed the Cantonese sermon by pastor Andy Wong, and learned a lot. Andy Wong came from Toronto and is studying in Singapore for a three year seminary course; and has been guest speakers for Kay Poh Baptist Church since last year. So glad Mark and Sherry invited me there when Mark was the worship leader for the English Service a few weeks ago, little I knew that I can learn and enjoy so much from listening to the Cantonese sermon as well.

Though I have been the Cantonese interpreter for my church for the past 8 years, I have hardly listened to any Cantonese sermons. Strange isn't it? Yeah, I count a total of 4 times including yesterday... twice in TsimShaTsui Baptist Church when I was on holiday there in HK, and twice in KP Baptist church. I think God knows that I need some training and recharging, thus He sent me there.

Thanks Mark and Sherry for inviting me there, I really look forward to my next visit there already ! YEAH!

咕噜色香味的引诱 Calling Louisa

自从咕噜前几日整了"紅 酒 燴 牛 肋 排"後,想起都流晒口水,忍唔住立刻整俾家人吃,因为有小朋友在家,所以没用红酒,又买唔到牛肋排,只好用牛柳....唔理啦,我喜欢吃什么就放什么了,不然明年都无得食 ... 好好味呀!

Ever since Louisa told me that she made Beef shortribs with red wine a few days ago; I have been craving for it. Couldn't get shortribs, so i replaced it with beef cubes, no red wine because of the kids, but that didn't stop me from cooking what I want, heeee..... really yummy!

Not as nice as yours, Louisa, but thanks for the inspiration!

怀旧小息食品 Time for recess

以前在港读小学,小息时一定跑去买二毫子鱼旦,猪皮或尤鱼,加甜酱...今早突然想起,就整了当晚餐的一部份...爽爽爽

When I studied in primary school in HK LONG LONG time ago, I remember this specific snack that I just LOVED...fish ball, pig skin and cuttlefish... It is just like part of my school routine till I left HK. Suddenly thought of it this morning, so made it with curry to recount my childhood memory... YUM YUM

Last week, I received a lovely postcard all the way from Warszawa! Guess who it is from, it is from my webfriend Irene; who went there for a one month holiday. What a lovely destination and look at those nice buildings! I hope one day I will travel there with my family!

伟强O level 第一关过了 The beginning of Bryan's O level exams

好开心, Bryan今日考完O level 科学的practical exam; 感谢主,一切顺利,至少是一个好的开始,多
谢各弟兄姐妹们的祷告. 为庆祝这个好开始,特别做了这个纽约芝士蛋糕,加添Bryan喜愛的朱古力
粒在里面....已试味了,连我都觉好食呵:p

Today was Bryan's first O level exam, and it was his Science practical. He thought he did quite well, thank God for that. To celebrate a good beginning, made this cheesecake specially for him. I added toll house chocolate chips inside as he LOVES them, and please look at those heart chocolate, I used truffles to make them, nice, right?


讲明要庆祝,当然要有好野食啦....看那又多肉又好味的烧牛骨,是Nicky远道从加州带回来,Uncle Thomas 悉心烤煮,特别vacuum pack後再急冻,送给我这贪吃之人的,太好味了,多谢Thomas and Eva ! 伴莱是Eurasian Stew, 沙律,薯泥,墨西哥脆饼及自制salsa! 很丰富耶!

To have a celebration, there must be GREAT food! And tonight's main dish hails all the way from LA, it is beef ribs a la Thomas.... talk about succulently good, this has to be it... MY FAVORITE of all favorites, bbq beef ribs. So kind of Eva n Thomas to vacuum pack and quick froze for me, really appreciate every morsel of them. I also made Eurasian stew, green salad, mashed potato, tortilla with salsa to complete the dinner!

Do pray for this little girl Ching from Taiwan. The details are in the above article and trust that you will be as touched by her family as I have.

In John 9:3, "Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him." I believe that is the purpose of little Ching's birth, to manifest works of God. Her story and the bravery of her parents have touched tens of thousands of people worldwide; and their faith in God definitely put me to shame. How trivial are my problems compare to theirs! And how different is the reaction, their praising God and my questioning God... please forgive me Lord.

I just hope that all of you will pray for this little girl, for this little miracle: Let God's Will be Done in her life. Comfort the parents, give them peace and joy in midst of turmoil!

靓靓樽樽生曰快乐 Happy Birthday Bottle

网友樽樽今日生日,上个月已吩咐我做一个樽型蛋糕为他庆祝,太有挑战性了...想了三个星期和无限的压力后,决定用布朗尼切成樽型,本想写上Maple Syrup来代表Elvira本人的甜美,又怕其他人唔明白我的意思,算了,就老土点,祝Elvira青春常驻,身体健康!

Today is web friend Elvira's birthday! Upon her request, designed a bottle shaped cake for her big day. I used brownie to accomplish this challenging task, n really think I have failed her. Cracked my brain over the design but nothing better comes out of it... guess she just has to accept my humble yet sincere birthday wish with this brown bottle.

食完会打横行的晚餐 Crab Vermicelli

这一大窝螃蟹米粉,竟然被daddy, Nicky,Britney 和Bryan一扫而空,还有人参鸡汤和炒青菜,都无一幸免,见他们食得那么开心起劲,我这煮煮妈妈点劳碌也安慰了~~

Crab Bee Hoon is one of the recent newly-discovered favorite-of-the-month dishes of my brood. The amazing thing is each one of them just LOVES the dish... the beehoon just soaked up the sweetness of the crab, yummmm.... I served it with ginseng chicken soup and fried green vegetables.. compare to the crab, they just paled...

囡囡生曰晚餐 Birthday Dinner at Swissotel Plaza by the Park

刚刚同一班好友庆祝Britney的生曰,Jean and Judy帮我选了Swissotel的Plaza Market Cafe食Peranakan Buffet, 很丰富耶!

Jean and Judy helped me to choose this Peranakan buffet at Swissotel Plaza by the Park to celebrate Britney's birthday. The food was delicious and choices were just great. We had sashimi, oysters, mussels, cold prawns, soba, lor mee, popiah, kueh pietei, roast pork, fish maw soup, roast beef, rendang duck, and many more other Nonya dishes... I think at least 50 items on the buffet, really good value n quality...

虽然囡囡在生病发烧,见到那么精美的蛋糕,也笑得颇甜!

Even though Britney was having a fever at the time, she just must smile for the camera with such a lovely cake by the hotel chef.




Surprise! 原来Aunty Jean已叫酒店准备了一个朱古力慕士蛋糕给寿星女,看Britney几惊喜,哈哈!

Aunty Jean asked the hotel to prepare a surprise birthday cake for Britney... what a pleasant surprise, look at Brit's expression; lucky she didn't choke on her drink.

今朝载Britney上课後回家途中,突然很感性地向神祷告及识错,当中感觉神在教我很重要的一课,"顺服和信赖"...很多时我以为我比神更懂得照顧我的儿女,编排一切,还自以为是的说是跟随神的旨意.神呀,求你原谅憐憫我这伪君子,帮我学习寻找祢的旨意,顺从降服,诚意地赞美祢,依靠祢...

神呀,将Britney放在祢手中,求祢保守她,带领她...给她一颗温柔感恩的心,祝福人的咀巴,成为話語帶著謙卑與恩慈的一個智慧女仔...不管在那里,也做祢的好见证,得祢的恩宠..学习珍惜眼前人,成为别人的祝福..

谢谢你,嗒嗒...很意想不到的是神用你来感动及启发我,神何等的奇妙..继续为我家祷告...祝福你, Judy 也是呵!

Dear God, I put Britney in Your Hands, pray that You will protect her, love her and guide her all the days of her life; as you have for the past 16 years. You have done wonderful things for her, gave her good brain, good schools, good spiritual guidance from Sunday School teachers and pastors, and a good voice to sing for you...I thank YOU for all that. Pray that you will continue to mold her and teach her n oh Lord, give her a merciful n grateful heart, a sweet countenance n gentle tongue.. to be a blessing to everyone she encounters; to treasure everyone who loves her and to be thankful for even the smallest thing and not take things for granted.

Also God, forgive me for being a know it all mother; trying to direct my children's lives under the guise of parenting. It really is lack of trust and not submissive to Your perfect Will; thank you for revealing to me my unfaithfulness and hypocrisy and help me to change O Lord. I know I can't do it myself, but with Holy Spirit's help, nothing is impossible; help me God to let go... Thank You Lord for this lesson of "submission and faith", I confess n pray for Your forgiveness. Pray for all the ones who are close to my heart Lord, you know who they are, pray that You reveal to them and give them their hearts' desire as you say, "when you honour me, I will honour you"... "All things worketh well for the ones who love Him, according to His purpose..." Help me to rest in YOUR faithful and find peace...amen!

又香又甜又好食....加州High Desert出名的Blum Beauty蜜桃是也! Alice, Albert & George他们贴心的买一箱桃子给我,知我有好几年没吃了, 谢谢耶 !

Look at all these sweet and juicy peaches that Albert and the gang got us... the fragrance just can't be described till you sink your teeth into one yourself. I can't even remember when was the last time I got to eat one as nice as this, definitely years ago as I normally can't catch the season when I go back to US for visits. Thanks again, Albert, they are LOVELY!

Nicky 从美国旅行回来了,睇下他带了什么回来...

My darling son, Nicky, is back from LA this morning and look what he lugged all the way back for his beloved mama... OF course, not to forget beloved Alice, Eva, Albert, Stacey, George and Thomas who took care of Nick and supply all these goodies for poor me here in Singapore. Hey guys, can't wait to see you all in November.

The top is one of my MANY favorites, BAGELS.... Not as nice as Mabel's bagels I am sure, but still verrry good to me.... heeee...


On the right is the secret to all my cooking, without them, I won't be doing anything nice or at least edible.


See all these tortillas, the must have for my Mexican dinners. Make them into fajitas, tostada salad, taco salad, quesidilla, etc etc... of course must go with my pico de gallo.

Gummy bears, YES, another one of my MANY favorites... also need the apricots and cranberries for my baking. Pistachio at the behind is just for snacks.

大丰收的一天耶!!!! Kitty 月饼模是咕噜寄来的礼物,答应她不管是八月或十月,一样做出冰皮月饼,答谢她一番心意,特别鸣谢咕噜佬,麻烦他找找找!

主曰学生日会 Happy Birthdays to YOU

自从由翻译事奉转去教主日学後,每两星期都很凑巧的是我学生们的生曰,身为老师的我当然要有些表示,明天是Matthias的生曰,星期四是Yan Hao的,星期五是囡囡十七岁了,这个蛋糕给他们在班上同庆!

There will be three birthdays in the coming week, and it seems like my students are all having birthdays right after I take over the Sunday School Class... haaaa.... That is good, it is a good way to bond teacher-students; and this Truffles Chocolate cake is for the three of them: Matthias, Yan Hao and my beloved daughter, Britney.

中秋节晚餐聚会 Dinner party for Mid Autumn Festival

这是昨晚的晚餐,请了几个主内弟尺姐妹来吃饭聚会,最开心应是四个小孩提灯笼,放小烟花,本来己有烟雾,就帮它一把,让他们玩得痛快好了!

This is last night's dinner spread! Invited a few families over for the Mid Autumn Festival fellowship. The kids sure had a good time playing with the sparklers and carrying the lanterns; I just love traditions...

煮了几道菜招待客人,全是家常便饭,吃得饱就算了...

Just cooked a few dishes for my guests. Since they are my close friends, i don't think they mind these simple fares...



右面的是我及小孩都喜欢的豉油王鸡翼...我也是大细路呀!

I must introduce my beloved soya sauce chicken wings, somehow I am just very partial to soya sauce chicken since young.






客人当中有两位是上海人,特别为她们煮这道迷你狮子头...不过不失而己!

This Shanghainese Lion Head dish was specially cooked for my two Shanghainese guests. Interestingly enough, they don't eat that at home... hmmm... Never mind, they can eat it at my house then.... heee...

中秋节前序 Prelude to Mid Autumn Festival

明曰中秋节,应节食品当然少不了柚子,手又痕想整蛋糕,不如试做楊枝甘露凍餅,顺便试一试柚子甜不甜! 睇下狗仔和老鼠仔...想一口咬落去添!

Tomorrow is Mid Autumn Festival, of course will be having mooncakes and pomelo besides other stuff. So, on the pretext of testing the sweetness of the pomelo, I made this Mango Pomelo Mousse Cake as a prelude!

非常小孩子的菜式--咕噜肉是也, 下面是清蒸鲳鱼,俾我囡囡食晒,话考试要补脑呵!

One of my favorite comfort food is sweet & sour pork; I love that tangy sweet bite of tomato chunks... yummmm... The fish is for Britney, she says she needs brain food for her finals; and YES, she finished the whole fish by herself, haaaa....

月饼大丰收 Mooncakes & mooncakes

蓝雨叫我整多些月饼,点得呀.......

哇哇哇,你地睇下,这些都是我的朋友送的,还有一些冰皮迟些才送到,食都食了几盒,有我的肚腩为证,1.5公斤,惨了....可说是目不忍睹呀!!! 我无心情写下去,呜呜呜....

那可以这样没修养,在此再一次多谢各姐妹的厚愛,知道我中意食月饼,到处找最好的给我,太感动了,多谢多谢!

Look at all these lovely boxes of mooncakes my friends bought for me! They are not the only ones I have, some I have eaten and some will be delivered by the shop later. Just think of the calories, hmmm.... that's why when Yoyo asked me to make more mooncakes, I just couldn't even imagine.... of course half my mind is on the 1.5 kg that I have gained already this past weeks.

This year, I have mooncakes from 4 different countries: Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Thailand... Let's see if I break last year's record of 12 boxes of mooncakes or not. So far there are 9 already and counting.... hmmmm.... I think I should throw my scale away first.

Thanks everyone who remembers my sweet tooth and allow me to share my fat with you too, hoooooo.....

心意无限 Surprise gift from Macau

你睇下那个兔子灯笼,好得意呀! 我x十年前就是每年都要妈妈买给我的款式,在新加坡没有这做型的....我只轻描淡写的回忆往事,细心的蓝雨就老远的从澳门寄来这份惊喜的礼物,太感动了!还有其他如果子玩具,美人fan等等... 多谢你呀蓝雨,下次唔好破费呀!

当然不可浪费那么美的装饰品,快快再做南瓜冰皮去配灯笼啦!

You won't believe this, that rabbit lantern hailed from Macau, flew almost 2 weeks to reach Singapore. Yoyo sent it on September 19, and it only arrives at my house this evening... a grand total of 13 days. Definitely a surprise to me when i opened the parcel....

I haven't seen my childhood rabbit lantern for at least ahem xx years already, it used to be my favorite and I happened to mention it during a conversation with yoyo... how nice of her to remember and sent one to me as a surprise... not only that, look at the lovely fans and little muffins toys etc... words fail me. I will look at the moon this Friday and think of not the fairy in the moon but yoyo in Macau, haaaa....

Not to let the rabbit be lonely, I immediately made 2 batches of Pumpkin mooncakes for the picture. That is how it all started, when Yoyo mentioned that my mooncakes needed lanterns to accompany them in my picture... voila, nice lantern and ok looking mooncakes.

THANKS YOYO, you shouldn't have ... but I am very grateful!

十月一日是新加坡的儿童节,我这走马上任的主日学老师当然要有小小表示...除了准备了小礼物,也做了这个开心蛋糕,以棉花糖及波波做装饰,扮小可愛...内里用了yakult, aloe vera 和 nata de coco; 无跟食谱,希望小孩子们喜欢.

Today is Singapore's Children's Day! I made this cuty cake for my Sunday School students in honour of the occasion. I hope they like this new combination, yakult, aloe vera and nata de coco mousse cake!
