Curious question ... for working parents in Singapore, does the baby go to childcare centre? Or stay with domestic helper at home?
In Australia, majority of the children go to childcare centres (cost is expensive), and the working parents have to pickup the child by 6pm. Centres open for Mon-Fri only, weekends childcare have to be sorted out by the parents. This inadequate childcare system is a major headache for working families in Australia.
Infants as early as 4 months old can go to infant care center if parents choose to do so . It’s normally case to case as to whether the helper is trustworthy enough to be left alone w the baby at home , or whether have grandparents’ support to supervise etc etc . Australia has longer maternity leave for moms so that’s very enviable for parents here . No one system is the best in any country , just make do with whatever is best . Happy new year .
Australia has a 1 year maternity leave (part paid and part non-paid), I took that benefit when I was with babies.
I am a mum of 4 in Sydney. Born in HK and immigrated to AUS long ago. My children are much younger than yours.
I have been a follower of your blog for a long time. I especially like your travel and food eating pages. They open up my eyes to what other countries and their food cultures are like, for I cannot travel afar with my family for now.
Thank you for sharing your travel and food adventures, I greatly appreciate it !!!
I hope you don't mind me reply in this long mesg, just wanted to reassure you I'm not some random weirdo.
Best wishes and good health to you & your beautiful family. Happy New Year!
